Leisure …A Break from the Monotony
Ah! LEISURE, the sight of the word itself brings in a feeling of joy within a soul. With the fast-moving pace of life, this word has long been forgotten.
“Guard well your spare moments. They are like uncut diamonds. Discard them and their value will never be known. Improve them and they will become the brightest gems in a useful life”.
These were the words quoted by Ralph Emerson, a great poet, and a philosopher.
True….. Leisure is one of the essences of life. It means being at ease and enjoying your time completely keeping all your daily chores and worries aside. It breaks the monotony and prolongs one’s life. It’s the sweetest moment as it’s the time when a person spends his time according to his or her choice. It’s the phase when a person’s mind is free from stress which enables him to think out of the box. Innovative ideas and creative skills crop up when the mind is fertile. As leisure refreshes and invigorates the brain, it adds an extra dimension to our qualities. But of course! making the correct use of it is definitely important. Renowned personalities are the ones who discovered or made wonderful inventions at their leisure.
In the present pandemic, although the world is moving at a very slow pace with almost all the working systems coming to a halt, man has ended up with unprecedented leisure which has directly or indirectly made him a better performer. Children are no longer subjected to long hours of schooling which has enabled them to spend their leisure fruitfully by developing their skills and coming up with new hobbies. Not only them, but even the house makers and men at home have also come up with activities like making ecofriendly products, organic farming, new cooking techniques, and are into exploring internets and new apps, developing their relations with family and friends by connecting with them which was almost getting lost. Isn’t it mind-blowing?
So let us teach children how to use their spare time!!!
Let’s give them more time by listening to them, by helping them explore new skills, by encouraging them to develop their hidden talents and also by stimulating their curious nature!
You don’t have to be rich or have a luxurious life if you want to be happy. You are happy by default if you give time to yourself and to your family. Stress during leisure defeats the purpose of getting it. So, let’s make use of it in a worthful manner!!!
