One of the most important steps we can take towards achieving our greatest potential in life is to
learn to monitor our attitude and its impact on our work performance, relationships and everyone
We all have a choice. We can choose an inner dialogue of self-encouragement and self-motivation,
or we can choose one of self-defeat and self-pity. It is a power that we all have within us. Each of us
encounters hard times, hurt feelings, and physical and emotional pain. The key is to realize, it is not
what happens to us that matters; it is how we choose to respond.
Walt Disney once said, ‘Whatever you do, do it well. Do it so well that when people see you doing it
they will want to come back and see you doing it again and they will want to bring others and show
them how well you do what you do.’
The measure of success is not in ‘not failing’ but in having the right attitude to begin again with a
new wisdom and enthusiasm. The starting point of a journey towards success and happiness is in
having the right attitude. It is the right attitude that decides how successful we will be in achieving
our goals – be it scoring well in studies, getting selected in the school sports team, overcoming stage
fear or making friends.
A positive attitude helps us see the bright side of life. If Walt Disney had given up to when his first
cartoon production company went bankrupt or had he believed in what the newspaper editor told
him about his lack of ideas, he would have never been able to establish his production house which
today is one of the highest revenue earning companies in the world.
As a team member of Apple Global School, I strongly believe that we can develop ourselves by
harbouring the willingness to learn, by welcoming challenges and striving to do better, remain
enthusiastic and have the self-belief – a daunting faith in our abilities and the motivation to move
on can lead us towards our dreams.
