SECONDARY SCHOOL
The middle school years are a time of significant intellectual, physical, social and emotional growth. Students are helped to keep pace with the accelerated academic challenges and get support in acquiring life skills. They are assisted with study skills, organization of work and gain confidence at performing under examination conditions.
The primary aim is to develop in the students the qualities of integrity, honesty, trust, tolerance and compassion; to promote a spirit of enquiry, to foster a scientific temperament within the bonds of humanism; to help the students become a meaningful part of their environment and to see that courage and integrity have their due reward.
The main subjects taught are English, Mathematics, Hindi, Science, Social Science, Value Education, GK, and Computer Science. There are two terms in one academic session. The integrated curriculum includes the ‘Science Around Us’ and ‘Math Around Us’ programs in continuation from the Primary school. Apart from the two Term End Examinations, the internal assessment is marked beyond the periodic test, which includes students’ presentation in group activities, quizzes, classroom discussions, oral tests, journals, projects to name a few.
Students would continue to be given opportunities to engage in various activities such as projects, problems, design and research-based learning that promote cooperative learning, which as a result increases their participation, achievement and motivation to learn. Consequently, collaborative learning would allow students to contribute with different degrees of prior knowledge, abilities and aptitudes.
