ACADEMICS OVERVIEW
AGS believes in a philosophy that says all students can learn if taught how to learn, coupled with high expectations for all students as responsible learners. The emphasis should be on learning and not on teaching. Knowledge is not just imparted but students are trained to experiment, collate information, draw inferences and to arrive at their own conclusions. AGS believes that real learning comes from doing things, taking the knowledge thus learnt, and applying it in other situations. As we forge links to literacy with our students, we empower them to become all that they can be, to contribute to society, to become good citizens. We are a CBSE affiliated school .The school offers Grades from Nursery to Grade 7 (Integrated Curriculum) and Grade 8 to 12 in CBSE Board . From the Year 2022-23, we propose to commence the IGCSE International Board from Grade 8 going forward. After Grade 7 students will select to study in one of the boards.
At each grade level, students are challenged academically and personally to learn and grow. From the laboratories to the stage performances, our faculty and staff guide students as they gain understanding and proficiency across all disciplines. Our academic program is designed to teach students the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will best prepare them for success in a global society. The students of Primary and Secondary school are encouraged to participate in external competitions such as Olympiads, ASSET, International Spell Bee etc. All students are expected to participate in school House-competitions such as Extempores, Recitation, Debates, Spell Bee, Quiz scheduled as per the school activity calendar. The academic presentations of Science & Math Projects provide a platform for the application skills of their knowledge. The purpose-built infrastructure provides the exclusive environment and necessary support to the students’ intellectual, mental and physical pursuits.
As we continue to implement the Core skills required in all the subjects and establish links to the real world, these 21st-century skills standards provide a practical way to prepare children for the challenges of our constantly changing world, by providing them with the real-world skills they need for success in their future endeavours. These skills are not to be understood as units or even subjects, but as skills that are overlaid across all curriculum mapping and strategic planning. They are a part of every lesson. Our Applets will learn to collaborate, communicate, think creatively and critically, and they clearly will develop a sense of character. At the same time, we will continue to be firmly grounded in our core values. The skills that this educational adventure will produce will have an impact on how they learn and will ultimately be the key to their future success.
As a school, we have invested in bringing international minds to our existing planning and have minutely planned each and every chapter for the students. Our ultimate aim was to amalgamate AGS planning with recent CBSE expectations, to incorporate essential research-based learning elements and teaching strategies from the international education system and core values from Gurukul teaching. As a result of several years planning, we are able to create and offer a robust 21st Century curriculum to our students, making them more responsible and compassionate individuals. We see our students as globally-minded citizens, critical and creative thinkers, skilled collaborators, and fully-engaged learners who achieve academic excellence and are socially and emotionally resilient.
Educator’s role
Great teachers release and nurture their students’ natural power to learn, and they believe that all of their students can learn well.
In AGS all efforts are directed towards further developing the potential of students in a holistic and integrated manner, so as to produce individuals who are intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically and balanced and harmonious. Such an effort is designed to produce future citizens who are knowledgeable and competent, who possess high moral standards, and who are responsible and capable of achieving high levels of personal well being as well as being able to contribute to the harmony and betterment of the family, the society and the nation at large. Our aim is to encourage originality. Therefore, in AGS, as educators our main objectives of the school would be to;
- Encourage all-round development of the individual covering the intellectual, physical, emotional, and spiritual domains;
- To provide opportunities for the individual to develop his or her own potentials and strengths and abilities;
- To produce a technologically literate citizen who can contribute to the national development in the knowledge-based technology era;
- To increase the participation of all stakeholders such as parents, society in the education process.
Our highly qualified and enthusiastic teaching staff know their pupils’ strengths and weaknesses and support them and help them to develop and grow in their particular areas of expertise. Relationships between the pupils and their teachers are excellent and this engenders mutual trust and respect.
Average class size has 30 to 35 students and faculty members are available to work with students one-on-one and in small groups. We strive to provide an equitable learning environment for all students, and we believe every student should have an equal opportunity to participate in and contribute to the life of the school. When everyone can bring their full selves to the table, we all benefit.
